The Lakeshore Chapter of Trout Unlimited is an all-volunteer organization that was founded in 1983 and serves the cold water fisheries of Kewanee, Calumet, Manitowoc and Sheboygan counties. With 180+ members, the LSTU organization has a rich history and is an active leader in the conservation community creating and caring for multi-use resource areas for future generations.
Most of our normal activities like meetings and events are still on COVID hold. However, Lakeshore Trout Unlimited has continued our stream restoration work only missing two work days last year. We have been focused lately on removing dead trees from the stream and the river banks. The Ash Borer is taking a heavy toll along the Onion creating both stream blocking timber damns and hazardous conditions. We'll continue removing those trees as needed. We've also gathered over 200 unsold Christmas trees from area lots for use in bank stabilization come spring. Those trees make the best brush bundles!
Finally, please join us for our first Chapter Zoom meeting coming in February. The details are spelled out below.
Greetings LSTU members,
We are very excited to invite you to join our LSTU Chapter Zoom event on February 16 at 7:00 PM. We have big plans for the coming year starting with this special live event featuring two guest speakers! You do not need to be a LSTU member to attend this event so feel free to invite guests. Attendees will need to register in advance through the link below.
Joining us as guest speakers will be Shawn Sullivan and Gordy Martin. Shawn Sullivan works for the DNR stream restoration crew and has led and worked on many stream projects across Wisconsin. He will talk about structure building and river restoration that is very relevant to our coming work on The Onion in '21. Gordy Martin is known to many in our Chapter for his knowledge of local fisheries. He will share some of that knowledge in a discussion of fishing opportunities on our local streams and rivers.
When: Feb 16, 2021 07:00 PM Central Time (US and Canada)
