We are happy to report that member meetings began again on June 15. About a dozen of us met at the Waldo Mill Pond Park for a cookout and casual conversation. We had our Board meeting on July 1 at Camp YKoda. The Board toured the Black Locust woods that we will be harvesting for use as pilings for our upcoming Onion River project South of County U. We are fortunate to have access to enough trees to harvest the 120 8' pilings that we need and more. We need help cutting down these trees and preparing them for use as pilings. Call Myk at 920 627 5779 if you want to help. Thanks Camp YKoda!
Our July workday was Saturday the 10th. We had a group of six volunteers this time, working hard finishing the first phase of removing downed trees from Ben Nutt creek at the confluence with the Onion River. It is amazing how much can get done in a short amount of time with a group of hard workers. Next work day is August 14th. We will continue our work on this high potential spring creek; we'll begin bank reinforcement, placement of half logs and other structure improvements. This is one of several habitat projects that we are working on this summer.
New this year and absolutely huge, Aventuron is sponsoring a massive outdoors package valued around 500 dollars for our workdays. Here’s how it will work. We log all of our volunteer hours. For every hour you work throughout the year you’ll get a raffle ticket. At the end of the full year, we will draw a ticket at a meeting and announce a winner. This will start next Saturday, so come out, get involved and increase your chances of winning! We hope to see you there! A special thanks to #aventuron for donating to our chapter!
Regular meetings are slated to begin again in August, with the third Tuesday in the month at 7:00 PM returning as our regular schedule! Our new location for the meetings will be the Aventuron offices in the lower level of the US Bank building on 8th St. in Sheboygan. We're very excited to get back to a regular meeting schedule. Stay tuned for further details.
